Sorry it has to be Ginger Baker I've no idea how to embed videos but here's the link to his performance of "Toad" about 5 years ago. Shame he looks like a grandad! Thanks Pippa!

hello Steve without doubt an exceptional drummer and a very fine 'toad'. thanks for the link. i'd definitely go along with Ginger Baker being one of the greats. i saw him play at the LSE many moons ago. i wonder whether Ginger Baker would have ever played alongside Tony Allen. Nigeria being the connection, which Tony Allen is, although i believe he spent many years since the 60s in New York. btw, while in compose message mode you'll see various buttons above the text box. one of them is youtube. copy and paste your url between the two brackets, like so: [ youtube ] url [ /youtube ] without the spaces. also when signed in you can modify your post.

(and about 3,000 others) ? ahhh, and thanks for the blessing request. is that 3,000 others before Tony Allen or Ginger Baker or both? in eiher case, rotfl. DM's discography includes albums with Elton John, George Harrison, Jimmy Page, Sandy Denny, Chris Rea, XTC, Jethro Tull, Joan Armatrading, Nick Drake, [“Procul Harum’s”] Gary Brooker, Peter Green, John Gorka, John Martyn, The Proclaimers, Cat Stevens & Loudon Wainwright, and Brian Eno. quite comprehensive i agree, but, Brian Eno being in a league of his own compared with some the former mentioned, would hardly claim Tony Allen as being the best in the world if he thought the title could possibly be DMs. with all due respect. following on from my post above, Ginger Baker has drummed with Tony Allen. this from wiki says: "Baker with Kuti travelled into Africa in a Land Rover to learn about the continent's rhythms. The fifth and last song features a 16-minute drum duet between Baker and Africa 70's drummer Tony Allen recorded at the 1978 Berlin Jazz Festival." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_%28Fela_Kuti_album%29i'll see if i can fish it out. Tony Allen has a myspace page where you can hear him and read a biog. www.myspace.com/tonyallenafrobeatedit: sorry i cocked up the link which should be ok now.
