Well folks, the time for bickering dispute is over - for 156 pages have Sinistral and Pippa blamed each other for supporting cliques that act directly against the interest of the one who happens to be posting at the time. MR has demonstrated an astonishing indifference and arrogance after opening this dispute by saying that naught else but MR matters to this board. Jean, who had promised to go without returning has been encouraged to stay and pontificate upon the labyrinthine machinations of Sinistral and Pippa Betts has appeared to make sinister and barely comprehensible veiled threats against good-hearted members of this board Aqua and Josh continue to heap ridicule and contempt upon this board And now Jade weaving the spells of her feminine charms -evidently with the reprehensible ambition of taking the moderator chair from those that really deserve it.
Enough is enough
It is self evident that a new, fair, forceful, charming and charismatic moderator is required to restore sanity to this board
In all humbleness, I offer my own services in this respect, and have included this poll to confirm my outright popularity as moderator for this board
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LAST FOUR OPTIONSARE INCLUDED FOR BALANCE AND VOTERS ARE NOT EXPECTED, MUCH LESS ENCOURAGED, TO VOTE FOR THESE OPTIONS
IF THIS PRIVILEGE IS ABUSED IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO WITHDRAW IT

I would like to thank the first voter for his wise choice in voting and I promise to uphold public standards of decency if elected

I have done my civic duty and voted.
It was my intention to vote in favour of Nay becoming a moderator. He has always displayed a high degree of rudeness, intolerance and sheer bloody-mindedness.....all the qualities needed to make a perfect mod. But then he changed. In a bid to grab power he has started being nice to people. He has begun modelling himself on his hero,David Cameron.....shmoozing and soft-soaping the electorate.
What a tragic waste. The pursuit of power corrupts yet again.

No, NO!
Nay is invaluable in many ways but as mod he would attract the trailer trash of the blogosphere to this board and that would upset the peace of the place.
Let us just continue as we are either replying or ignoring as we see fit but never whining either publicly or privately to mods about other posters. It's just not grown up. We are all elderly citizens, after all!
I vote bets continue with her perfectly judged hands-off approach. I like the permanently absent Goddess's approach, too. She gave us free will and left us to it like any reasonable deity would.

In my book - call me old-fashioned - 'No, NO' means 'Nay, NAY'. So the Nays have it. Two minutes to relinquish your keys and pack your bags, MR, then I'll escort you from the building. Come along.

Nay is invaluable in many ways but as mod he would attract the trailer trash of the blogosphere to this board and that would upset the peace of the place. I don't see why. When he had his own board it was hardly overrun. Only a few of us who knew his odd little ways bothered with it.

In my book - call me old-fashioned - 'No, NO' means 'Nay, NAY'. So the Nays have it. Nay,nay and thrice nay....and yea again I say nay. As the great Frankie Howerd would say.

Aqua, was it you, long ago, who admonished a couple of bruisers with "Now, now, newnew, naynay!" Some turns of phrase stay with you. It always makes me smile when I think of it. It sounds like one of yours.

I don't think so, aqua. Nay could never ally himself with that "egregious mangler of the English language", could he? Be honest! Does newnew still hang out with you on the cake board? I loved the photo of him in his lycra cycling gear! Prat!

Since aqua has moaned to me about being deleted on my climate blog I am reposting the conversation here which is the proper place for it. And I will delete my own comments from there since they are totally off topic.
The exchange started with a cheery message to me from Mr Smith.
rsmith77: Still reading the BBC board - keep up the good work! marchesarosa: Thanks mr Smith. Can't you get back on? aqua: You could tell him How, by PM. But you wouldn't do that, would you? marchesarosa: No. I would tell him out in the open if I knew "How", aqua. I just started posting after a very long absence and assumed I had been amnestied because jean and her little green gerda thing did their very best to ensure the BBC mods knew who I was but, happily, without succeeding in getting me banned. Three times the little green gerda thing popped up on threads I was participating in merely to mention my former BBC name in the hope it would get me banned again - the strategy had worked before so they tried it again. Horrid people, the ones you choose to keep company with aqua. Were you aware some of it is rubbing off on you? aqua: Why did you (I assume MR) delete my post? marchesarosa:I don't know what you are talking about or which post you are referring to. I don't have the power to delete posts, I'm just the Global Warming Consultant, a purely honorary title conferred by bets. If I HAD the power I wouldn't use it. I have been asked several times on several different board to be a mod and have always refused the poisoned chalice. My interlocutors are grown up and usually elderly. I give them the credit for their maturity and have no intention of muzzling them.
YOU, aqua, are one of the pillars of PC although, paradoxically you claim anarchist inclinations.
I came across this on a climate board the other day, of all places! I have read 1984, of course, but did not remember this particular quote. What a little gem!
"Crimestop" from Emmanuel Goldstein in the book The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism:
Crimestop means the faculty of stopping short, as though by instinct, at the threshold of any dangerous thought. It includes the power of not grasping analogies, of failing to perceive logical errors, of misunderstanding the simplest arguments if they are inimical to Ingsoc, and of being bored or repelled by any train of thought which is capable of leading in a heretical direction. Crimestop, in short, means protective stupidity. "Protective Stupidity"! There's an awful lot of it about, aqua. But even that does not mean it is worthy of the mod's red pen. Let it stand as a monument to crassness. aqua: In your #53 and #56 you do make a meal of things, quite gratuitously and inaccurately of course. Toodle-oo.

We (that is to say, aqua and I) are the same person, marchesa. Have you only just realised?
(It explains a lot.)

No - much worse.
Actually not at all. Perish the thought.
(Go away, sockpuppet!)
