So I hear
He has certainly lambasted the Government over the existence of Food Banks
So it seems that he thinks the Government should have policies whereby Food Banks are unnecessary
The sub-text there, is surely that the government should be more generous with its handouts so that poor people are not driven to Food Banks for their hunger needs
But Food Banks are now a phenomenon common to the rich countries of Europe
One hears that Germany feeds 1.5 million people thro' Food banks, and France 1 million
But personally I would expect Archie to welcome the existence of Food Banks and encourage his own flock to help out in that respect.
Because Food Banks represent a moving away from the monolithic State that provides all in all circumstances (and generally screws up in the process).
For example, we have thousands of people quite happy to live off State benefits (in many cases it is an entirely understandable decision that they take not to work). We do have an underclass with no intention of working, (and a lot of working class people that see no point in working).
The reason for this appalling situation is State Benefits of course. (At least IDS is tackling this enormous problem which is more than any other Minister has done in the last 50 years)
How much better that the local communities in Britain take responsibility for their workless, indigent and poor. And in that respect Food Banks are a beacon of light shining on a miasma of State corruption of adults and children thro State Benefits
Archie should surely be calling for more Food Banks manned by dedicated Christians, along with Pram Banks, TV Banks, Furniture Banks, Clothes Banks and indeed any other Bank whereby the local community takes care of its poor
For Archie to demand the Government does more is exceedingly strange
