Probably the same person who thought H-a-l-l-y P-o-w-t-a-h (Harry Potter with a Chinese accent) www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbradio4/F2766774?thread=4456287&latest=1#p51938567was racist and got a flea in her ear for it from Harry Roberts. Oh, the ignominy for BoxyRunty (as was)! She was part of the clique who got their jollies attacking me and deleting my posts.

That's not really relevant though, is it? The OP made a mistake there about who was speaking; it was a real Chinese accent she heard, not a mockery of one. If it had been mockery, it might well have been considered racist. So nothing to do with Clarkson. You haven't answered my question, though. I quote from my 115: What I was interested in was the difference between Evans's joke and Clarkson's. I believe that Clarksion intended to be provocative, to upset the PC brigade, in a way that Evans didn't. And I'm pretty sure he was aware of the furore Evans had (probably unintentionally) already stirred up. What do you think?

A spectacular failure indeed, when posters feel free to personalise the discussion not only in respect of posters taking part in it, but of others who aren't even members of this board.

The You and Yours presenter of the H-a-l-l-y P-o-w-t-a-h piece was indeed of Chinese origin but this was indiscernible over the radio. As a piece of fun she pronounced H-a-l-l-y P-o-w-t-a-h (Harry Potter) in what the audience recognised as a spoof albeit accurate rendering of a very commonly heard Chinese English voice. And don't tell me I would make even more of pig's ear of Chinese, puh-lease!
Don't tell me either that it's OK for a Chinese to mock Chinese pronunciation of English but not for English people because this is just part of the labyrinthine faux "philosophical" elaboration of the racial offence industry of which BoxyRunty is a part - and anyway it was a JOKE!
Remember, too, that the Carol Thatcher golliwog remark was not made on air but was "reported" by a BoxyRunty clone (read Stasi style spy) who overheard her remark and thought she would do a little stirring to Carol Thatcher's detriment - just as BoxyRunty thought SHE could take an easy opportunity for a little politically correct stirring over the joke H-a-l-l-y P-o-w-t-a-h accent.
You PC apologists for behaviour like BoxyRunty's make me tired.
We have not "missed" the point at all, aqua - you have - as per usual, blinded by the faux multicultural ideology that is just a front for the thought police.

I liked Roxy, wish she was about a bit more. Always made a good contribution and never, as far as I can recall, mindlessly insulting.
which is possibly why marchesa and pippa don't like her. Or the idea of her.
I looked back on that thread and dear god marchesa! Roxy suffers a torrent of abuse and responds with "sad git" and you get all huffy and accuse her of the most dreadful insult - after your several tirades.
Beggars belief really.
(Pippa do you ever actually read the crap before chiming in with your sycophantic "ooo marchesa you're so right, so clever, so wonderful" rubbish? Really? and make a grown-up judgment about what is being presented? Seriously?)
and frankly if you have to go back to 2007 you really are trawling.
Get over it.

The point of raising the H-a-l-l-y P-o-w-t-a-h post INITIATIED by ArchProxyRacialOffenceTaker, BoxyRunty, was to endorse Octopus's note that certain types (now holed up on the Archer's Boards) will designate simply ANYTHING as racially offensive.
Telling us she is good egg and anyway the incident happened long ago is irrelevant, jade. The point is BoxyRunty and her ilk make a habit of spurious "racism consciousness-raising" and they are a joke to all except the likes of Jade, apparently.
Incidentally, in case no-one had noticed, the thread I linked to also contained the evidence of the regular serial deletions of my perfectly harmless posts by RoxyBunty and pals. The only thing wrong with my posts was they poked fun at BoxyRunty and exposed her hypocrisy.
This makes MY posts worthy of deletion? How good of you to spell this out for us, jade! And how some of you must feel such nostalgia for the place where this curtailment of free speech was actually encouraged while you all stood by as witnesses and by your silence condoned it!

Don't tell me either that it's OK for a Chinese to mock Chinese pronunciation of English but not for English people... That's exactly what I am going to tell you, marchesa. I think it is probably ill-advised for a Chinese person to do it, but it's not the same thing. But unless Jeremy Clarkson is black himself and hasn't been telling us, the story you've dragged up here has nothing to do with the incident under discussion on this thread.
