Is "Adam" here? Maybe he should be invited to join this board. Especially as he is being spoken to - and, he'll be safe here - he won't be banned or called an idiot just because he disagrees with she-who-must-not-be-disagreed-with. And Luboš Motl - who he? Well I looked him up. This on the first page of google (it's funny): rationalwiki.org/wiki/Lubo%C5%A1_MotlMotl is smart, therefore everyone who disagrees with him is stupidRemind you of anyone? His blog, The Reference Frame, consists of abuse and insults hurled at anyone he disagrees withIt's reminding me of someone. He has an annoying habit of continuing to edit posts for months after making themCoincidence - surely? It's his personality that's the problemOr complete lack of one? Motl is a climate change denierWhat are the odds! Motl defines himself as a "Christian atheist." This seems to be due more to anti-Islamic sentiment and belief in "Western values" than the religion itself.I'm beginning to think "separated at birth". There's even more if you look for it but it's too spooky for me.

I noted this:
He's a not a big fan of academic feminism either: "Show me a single influential scholar in a department of women's studies who understands the very basic insight about that discipline, namely why virtually all of scholarly feminism is intellectual garbage."
So I think we can pretty much write him off.
(Marchesa, could you invite Adam here? He won't know where we are unless you tell him, and I at any rate can't go there and invite him myself.)

You are so "girlie" in your reactions, ladies! That's why you (and Adam) are unfit to participate on the Science Board. If you followed the SCIENCE link I gave to Prof Roy Spencer's blog, rather than doing your own "personality research" into Lubos (who is indeed robust in his non-toleration of fools) you would find a discussion of October's GLOBAL temperature anomaly - the very same month's temperature that young adam chose to make the subject of his first thread on the Environment sub-board of the Science Board! This is what Lubos stated on his own blog about Roy Spencer's latest satellite data motls.blogspot.com/2011/11/some-climate-change-news.htmlIf you ladies (and I include young adam in that number) could demonstrate you are up to commenting sensibly on data like these you would probably be welcome on the Science Board. Until then stick to your cyber-stalking and bitching about your bugbears. It is after all your forte and your prime reason for posting on this board!

Perhaps we should extend the hand of friendship to all kinds - even "girlies"? (Is that the latest buzzword/putdown/insult that you are both using now? Bit sexist don't you think?)

My advice to you Pippa would be to stop obsessing about who may be who from the past and whether or not they're male or female. Stop calling people silly names like 'girly'. Stop talking about kinds and ilks. and START engaging with what people say in their posts. That'd cut down on any 'bickering' dramatically.

As far as I'm concerned, I was thinking more of the mauling Adamadamant has been getting for being unemployed and on benefits. The ad hominems are in full swing, then? Very scientific...

If one were to watch the waves crashing onto a beach, one would notice large waves and small ones but one wouldn't notice the rising tide unless one observed quite a few waves. One month 0.1 deg warmer than average compared to the previous 0.3 deg does not foretell the start of global cooling.
