If you met an attractive man and subsequently discovered that he wore a wig to cover his bald pate would it put you off?

That's not really a question I can answer for obvious reasons, jonjel.

I know it is Monday so maybe it is taking a while for my brain such as it is to get up to speed, but the reasons you can't answer are not obvious to me.
Are you saying you already have a male partner with a rug?
Or that you prefer female partners?
If the latter, would her wearing a wig to cover up her bald pate put you off?

I once had an intermittent "relationship" with a man who tried desperately (to my mind) to counteract hair loss.
He had transplants to his front hairline which made it look like a barbie doll whilst at the back (where the transplants came from) the hair coverage looked moth eaten. At one time, during the several years this "relationship" lasted, he became incredibly hairy including on his nose! I never asked but I assumed he was taking some hormone to promote hair growth.
I never mentioned these attempts to counteract nature because being a caring little thing, I did not wish to rub salt in the wound. However, his obvious sensitivity and insecurity about a physiological change which is a NORMAL part of the variability of male appearance did make me think he was a prat - although in some other ways (not many, I have to admit!) he was quite a good companion.
Let me add that when I married at age 19 my husband, then 26, was well into hair loss - a family trait. It never bothered me and it still doesn't. When I come to think of it, ALL my long relationships have been with men with some degree of hair loss.
These days the shaven head has done a lot to disguise male pattern baldness. That choice of remedy, if one is deemed necessary, is far more manly, to my mind, that sporting a wig or a toupé which is, well, plain prattish and invariably brings the "victim" into some degree of contempt - NOT for his hair loss but for his patent insecurity and lack of proportion!

Phew. That makes me safe then......
But, was it the stress you put them under that made them lose their hair MR? (I have visions of a nervous wreck gibbering in the corner of the bedroom under a blanket as you approach yet again, ripping off the negligee!)
I neglected on my last post to question why Jean would not comment on the subject is perhaps because. She is a man?

Jonjel So this is where you hang out, and there was me thinking you were earning an honest living! I've always wondered why male toupees are sooo obvious. Women's wigs are so much better. I remember a guy coming to see me a few years ago, I can't remember what he was talking about as for most of the time I was unable to concentrate on anything other than his very badly fitting wig! Marchesa I think this is a man thing. I still don't understand the reason evolution removes hair from men's heads where it is needed to keep their brains warm and then makes it grow in other obscure places where it appears to serve no useful purpose! And don't get me started on the conversion of eyebrows to eyebristles!!! P

Caught red handed P. Been chatting up the women. (Did you know, some of them actually drive their own cars!)
I agree, wigs on blokes look worse than the ultimate comb over, so why bother. It is blindingly obvious that a lot of actors could have aged gracefully but still have a full head of rich dark hair at 70.
Mind maybe I am speaking as one who by and large still has most of his hair. Would I feel less of a man without that? Can't say, but doubt it.

Wifey doesn't see the top of my head much, these days. Time was ...
My three sons do, tho. As they tower over me.
They love me for it. I'm not sure she does.

...sporting a wig or a toupé which is, well, plain prattish and invariably brings the "victim" into some degree of contempt - NOT for his hair loss but for his patent insecurity and lack of proportion! This is another reason why I agree with your suggestion that baldness (and some men's steps to "remedy" it) is a more apt comparison with breast augmentation. The apparent insecurity, lack of proportion and subsequent contempt (and ridicule) are all there with the breast thing too.
