UN Security Stops Journalist’s Questions About ClimateGate
How about this for a senior IPCC climatologist shutting up an inconvenient questioner with the help of a security heavy?
In 1977 Stephen Schneiderwrote “the reality of the discipline: we just don't know enough to chose definitely at this stage whether we are in for warming or cooling— or when.”
In a January 2002 Scientific American article he wrote: “I readily confess a lingering frustration: uncertainties so infuse the issue of climate change that it is still impossible to rule out either mild or catastrophic outcomes, let alone provide confident probabilities for all the claims and counterclaims made about environmental problems.”
So what’s happened since? Oh, yes millions, some say billions, have been pumped into the IPCC research groups round the world and the models are spewing out ever more extreme scenarios even as the planet’s temperature stops rising; even as the raw data round the world indicate nothing more than cyclical variations and, just possibly, a slightly rising trend.
But don’t let that get in the way of a good scare story.
