www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/6865724/Bishop-says-plans-for-Muslim-school-in-Burnley-makes-him-weep.htmlI suppose jean and jade will be welcoming this development with open arms as further evidence of the UK’s commitment to “multiculturalism”. Count me OUT. I happen to believe that if you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem. In no way can segregated religious PLUS segregated sexual schooling be part of any solution to the problems caused by voluntary muslim self-segregation. This school is being spun as promoting the "empowerment" of muslim girls. Maybe. If it's an elite institution it may well empower some muslim girls (at the expense of others) but that is no reason to welcome it. It's just another step down the slippery slope to islamicisation. I hope it is entirely private and not depending on support from the UK taxpayers.

I don't approve of any faith schools, marchesa. I thought I'd made that clear.
Why should you think I'd make an exception for that one?

Why, because it's an example of the UK's commitment to multiculturalism, of course!
You certainly never made your opposition to state funded muslim schools apparent, jean.
And wasn't jade telling us that if you're NOT a multiculturalist you're a racist, genocidal maniac who, unless prevented by the PC righteous, will have the muslims, scrubbing the pavements with toothbrushes before you can say Jack Robinson?

Can it be that "islamic education" is proving a bit of an embarrassment for the resident feminist atheist multiculturalists?
I hope so.

I think all sectarian education is divisive and not to be encouraged, marchesa.
Sorry to disappoint you.

I am not in the least "disappointed" jean.
I stand open-mouthed at your persistence in promoting the multicultural agenda EVEN THOUGH it contradicts your most dearly held values of feminism and anti-sectarianism.
You see, sometimes, standing behind a generalisation is just not enough, jean.
Throwing out the baby with the bathwater, just doesn't seem "logical" to those of us endowed with common sense rather than, errm, whatever it is that leads YOU into such mental gymnastics and absurdities.

There's a co-ed day and boarding Scientology school in East Sussex - quite a good one, so I'm told. I don't like the Scientologists but it never occurred to me that they shouldn't set up their own privately-funded school .

What you actually said, jade, was:
In other words, because I am NOT a card-carrying multiculturalist, NOT on the payroll of Nulab &/or NGOs &/or Capita and NOT spending my days spreading PC and goodwill around the world, I am the equivalent of a nazi barbarian?
Come now, Daze, it is you who have upped the ante, not me. I simply asked a legitimate question about your profession and how your voluminous messageboarding fits into it.
I am not in the least surprised you will not answer the question. You are quite clearly a professional i.e. paid, propagandist.
