news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8397650.stmThis leaves me a bit bemused as I would have thought politicians, irrespective of their party are in a class of their own (that is not a compliment). In my mind politicians and journalists are in the "tabloid class". This includes all journalists, I see no difference between the red top and broadsheet journalists. This same applies to Television. In this class I would also include people who conduct surveys and/or produce reports which are usually pointless or state the bleeding obvious. Also, does class relate to being rich. There are no doubt many people who could be regarded as upper class but poor whereas their are many rich lower class. Isn't it just about groups/cliques/tribes ? I have worked in offices, factories and shops and found that each employment has a "class" systems relating to status of the particular job you are doing - cleaners, packers, technicians, clerical staff, personal secretary etc. America is supposed to be a classless society but that is not the impression I receive from various television programmes (but then JJ, if you do watch Gossip Girl etc what do you expect .

Money is a good start; but then you get that Tory minister who sneered at another Tory for having bought all his own furniture. (Probably a joke, but still.)
America, classless? Ha!
