How would aqua characterise a culture/religion that forbad its women (courtesy of Sharia law) to marry anyone but a co-religionist? I would suggest this extreme religious xenophobia is akin to racism in its compulsory self-segregation of the community's wombs from the "other" and is an inherent part of the totalitarian ideology that is Islam. It will be interesting to find out about the religious upbringing of aqua's muslim grandchildren and who gets custody of the kids when the relationship breaks down. I agree - it would be. But Aqua seems to believe such questions are "exploiting" his situation in some way. But as it happens, should such a misfortune occur he's lucked out - the grandchildren will automatically be placed into the custody of his son.

Oh, touchy, touchy, pippop!
Why do you always try to stop discussion of these fascinating cultural mores and conflicts?
Aqua's grandchildren by his son and his Somali (?) DIL (if there are any) would most certainly be considered muslim by virtue of the fact they were born to muslim parents. That's a tenet of the religion that is unquestionable.
What I am interested in is why this woman could not marry into aqua's family without his son first converting to Islam? Seems to me that HER culture/religion is far stronger and more pernicious in its control over its adherents than aqua's.
Let's hope the couple have now become EX-muslims, that would be the courageous step to take and would also free any offspring from the maw of this ghastly creed. Of course, it could open them all to charges of apostasy and the sanction of execution! Nice culture, eh, alive and well in Britain today?

Strictly speaking, the Prophet laid down that the sentence of death, although just and permissable, should really be deferred - Allah will then send them to Hell to burn in everlasting torment. In the meantime, the appropriate sentence is continual beatings and torture, for as long as possible.
On the other hand, 36% of young Moslems in Britain assert that apostates should be killed, so what does the Prophet know?

No, he meant what you know he meant, so don't be so bluddy disingenuous. I wonder why you simply do not come out and accuse me of being a racist? (If that is what you are implying?) If that is what you are implying, then I am surprised at you You state that Moslem immigrants adapt happily to British ways I point out that that is not so - that very many of them live in ghettoes in British cities and towns making no attempt to adapt - (it just so happens that the vast majority of Moslem immigrants are from that awful failed State of Pakistan) Apparently I should not have pointed out this self-evident truth to counter your argument and that my doing so is racist - not to accept your false assertion is racist. You join the tiresome queue apparently - I would expect better of you Poor thing. Don't let the nasty man get to you. And try not to be.. ... so emotional ! Sure this is an emotive subject (for you) but try to get a grip man!

It is aqua's offspring who risk prosecution for apostasy, not him, dozy! He had the good fortune to be raised a Christian in an enlightened nation.

The failure in logic is yours, as usual. I'll put it in the straighforward formulaic terms of propositional logic, if you want. You don't need to do that. All you need to do is read what you yourself wrote.Let me remind you how it went, up to this point: Cleefy originally wrote: ...The lie [i.e. that Muslims 'seem to be perfectly happy adapting over time to British ways'] is evident in visiting any British city and inded most towns in Britain, where you wuill see ghettoes of Moslems living as they would in Rawalpindi., making no attempt to adapt to British ways. They have even imported the political corruption of their homeland... To this, aqua commented: The point being that Nay/cleefarquhar/allman and MR...hold immigration from Pakistan to be the chief abomination. Any whites included in that? You then observed: His point would be every bit as valid were the inhabitants of Rawalpindi as white as yourself... If only you'd stopped there! It's a reasonable point to make, even if you offer no evidence for it - you couldn't really, because there are no significant communities of white Muslims in Britain. But then it goes horribly wrong: You still don't realise what you've done though, because you go on to explain: There is no 'comparison' between a Moslem community in Sofia and one in Rawalpindi. Most people in Rawalpindi are Muslim. Even cleefy might not object to the inhabitants of Rawalpindi living 'as they would' in Rawalpindi, because they're there already, they're not a minority, nor are they a ghetto. In British towns or cities, OTOH, Muslims from Rawalpindi do constitute a minority, as Muslims do in Sofia. The word ghetto, of course, is loaded, and I prefer not to use it. What points of comparison there are between Bulgarian Muslims in Bulgaria and British Muslims of Pakistani origin in Britain, I really do not know. It does not seem quite fair to criticise the Bulgarian Muslims for failing to adapt to Bulgarian ways since they have been there for centuries, and the ways may be supposed to include their own. But Is it? Don't we need to decide what a ghetto is first?

I don't know where you get that strange idea, pippop. The only time I have ever used asterisks in a word is to avoid a board being reported to proboards admin for obscenity or some such. You ARE aware, aren't you, that a certain prat has routinely reported boards to probords admin on specious grounds merely to further their own ideas of political correctness?
I should not be surprised if this prat weren't planning to do the same again. Good luck!

I'm sure, NCS, that Nay (or cleefarquhar - I insist on this spelling!) is most grateful for your apologetics. Unless you can prove that you're joined with him at the brain, however, I'd rather hear from him on how I have (mis)interpreted his posts, and whether he agrees with your repeated claims and insinuations that I am a racist. You misunderstand: I'm not defending Nay. I'm defending truth and decency and the canons of rational debate. A propos of which, it would seem that you have some sort of objection to it being insinuated that you're a racist. Lesson learned, I would say. So you did miss my point(s).

But, as you are, could you ask MR why she thinks I was raised a Christian, please. Please allow me to attempt to answer that question Aqua You were raised a Christian whether you liked it or no You were raised in a country whose laws are based on Christian precepts, whose ruler is a defender of the Christian religion, whose schools were mainly founded by Christians and run on Christan lines. You would have undoubtedly said prayers and sung hymns and have been inculcated with stories of Christianity in your schooldays. The music you heard would have been from a profound Christian heritage, the art you were introduced to expressed some of the most astounding sentiments of Christianity , the literature you read undoubtedly included works of great beauty wholly inspired by Christianity Had you been in the Cadet Force at school you would have sworn allegiance to the Christian God You would have known, and still know, the great stories of Christian self-abnegation and heroism, the communal suffering of Christians in the face of persecution of their religion, the great journeys and language of St Paul, the sad lonely death of Jesus after his betrayal in Gethsemene Yes you were raised a Christian whether you liked(d) it or not
