3 Israeli teenagers are kidnapped and murdered by Palestinians
The Israeli reaction has been entirely what would be expected from an Imperial power
They have sent in massive forces to arbitrarily search their Imperial subjects' homes and premises; they have arrested over 500 of their imperial subjects (with so -called 'administrative' measures - borrowed from the British Colonial rule - that require no charges) they have killed one Palestinian during these searches and have blown up the houses of suspects.
Just as the British did when their colonial subjects became a little uppity
Britain eventually realised that a civilised country could not rule over unwilling subjects and maintain civilised standards (as Powell so eloquently reminded the Imperial Parliament)
To keep an Empire intact whilst governing unruly peoples, the governing power must resort to abhorrent uncivilised methods that would be unlawful if applied against their own people
Does Israel recognise that its colonisation of the Palestinian territories can only be maintained by using ruthless uncivilised methods?
Does it understand the Palestinian desire to have their own state is just as valid as the Jewish desire to have their own state?
The murder if these 3 teenagers is reprehensible, but within the context of Imperialism, such acts are entirely predictable, as is the reaction of the colonising power, for as long as Israel is ruling over people that do not want their rule they must act as all Imperial powers have done and ignore civilised standards

Let the protagonists get on with it. No amount of angst from the supporters of either side will have any effect whatsoever, nay. Only the people on the ground can resolve the situation.
Same applies to the whole of the middle east and Africa. Let them get on with their petty religious/ethnic/tribal/sectarian conflicts. They are incapable of living peaceably. it's just not in 'em, I'm afraid. How much happier they were when ruled by benign Europeans (or The Caliphate!). I suppose that is what the map of colonial Africa is intended to convey? A posting of good sense.

Well, if you had to choose between living in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Mali, sudan, Somlia etc and dear ol' Blighty I dare say you would know which side your bread was buttered, pal, as do all those who have migrated to our shores for asylum or educational/economic opportunity over the years.

Is that all you can think of? Really? Summed up: it is great here and shit there but I still can't understand why "they" are complaining so much it's not like it's our fault or anything - we have nothing to do with it - we are PEACEABLE!

Rule number one. Don't get involved in other people's civil wars. And that includes Israel Palestine.
I am just listening to a couple of long bearded lads trying to convince Jon Snow that the West should finance their jihad against President Assad. Nutters. They hate the West but are hypocritically trying to convince the bleeding hearts of Channel4 that they should have access to the West's resources to promote their objectives. No. Let the muslims kill each other from their own resources, thank you very much. And when they try to return to what they will, for the purposes of their then convenience, describe as "home" (aka the UK - tee hee, laughs up her sleeve!) they should be deported to one of those other nations for which they also possess a passport.
Yes, this country is pretty OK, thank you, third Man, and where the protagonists in these various civil wars and internecine strife come from is not. There is no muslim nation anywhere in the world that ANYONE on this board would choose to live in rather than the UK. I invite spesh to vote with his/her feet if I am wrong.

There is no muslim nation anywhere in the world that ANYONE on this board would choose to live in rather than the UK. You are not interested in hearing other people's views. You simply haunt these boards to insult other posters and to be be mean-spirited about some groups of people in the world that you hate. Yes, hate. It must be really difficult being you. Year after year just repeating these hatreds over and over... Your assertion above is ridiculous as NOBODY here has even suggested that the UK is a bad place to live or that Syria is better than here. Just the usual straw-man tactics.
