of course i cant agree with how you have compared how a normal discussion with a group of people even when it is one against a few with the cartoon examples i gave. and as sure as eggs is eggs jean thrashing it out here is guaranteed to kill the little trickle that is left of this board.
i will apologise however to jonjel for his thread which like so many others has got derailed in this way.
hopefully we can draw a line under carrying on with this type of discussion at length on on a perfectly well meaning conversation. at least continue it away from this one.
and now i have to be somewhere.

A normal discussion with a group of people even when it is one against a few is what I do. But you decided otherwise - and you posted those cartoons because you wanted anyone reading to think they were an accurate representation of how I behave on messageboards. I have not made the comparison - you have. You have 'observed' one sort of interaction going on - and you have jumped to the conclusion that you were 'observing' something rather different. You posted those cartoons first on the Post Cemetery sub-board, where you'd revived a two-year-old thread solely to tell anyone who might be listening about how I had 'spun' things so as to ensure that other posters failed to read the Toad/Erasmus's posts properly, and shunned him because I told them to. I couldn't believe you were once again raking over the ashes as I put it, and you replied: and my raking over these ashes is merely to try to redress an imbalance. hopefully anyone who reads this may in future think twice about getting swept up in one one of these.* instead of believing your spin they might in future attempt to wade through erasmus's posts and fathom what it is he was actually saying. You see? Your asterisk there linked to the cartoons. But those cartoons are not an accurate representation of how I post or have ever posted in answer to the Toad or JSM or the marchesa or you or jonjel or anyone else I've ever interacted with on any board, ever. I've apologised to you for my mistake; are you going to apologise for yours? As sure as eggs is eggs none of this would be happening if you hadn't recently chosen to revive that ancient thread to put your spin on discussions that happened years ago, most of which you've had to reconstruct after the event since by your own admission you weren't there at the time they originally happened. Even then, that might have been an end of it if you could have resisted the temptation to post those cartoons again on the main board. But you couldn't, could you? This board has always been a very peculiar place. It's become a locus for my attempts answer your accusations before, pippa, and has survived an a sort of way. It appears to be one of those boards that survive best on a spat, and otherwise limp along without much happening. Look at MCL - it's never been the same since sandy stopped posting, though jonjel's been doing his best.

Disingenuous, pippa. listen, you got it wrong jean in your accusation. you apologised and i accepted your apology. just what am i supposed to be apologising to you for baffles me. i have done nothing other than try to participate in a thread and in doing so find myself having to ward off your continued haranguing of me. leave me alone. as a mod on this board you should know better than to carry on with your vendettas on a well intentioned conversation that has nothing whatsoever to do with whatever it is you are hell bent on.

You wrote: ...you are reading far too much into what was just a light quip... And that's what I'm apologising for. Reading too much into your quip. Well, as you were. this thread was trashed once you'd insinuated my oh so brief quip was another attempt at confrontation. how ironic. from then on it developed into a roller coaster gathering momentum with false allegations that tediously led me to lay out the sequence events to prove you wrong and show how you had got the wrong end of the stick. in the post that followed you apologised. therefore i assumed (logically) that is what it was for. especially so as you followed it with: Now you know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of insinuations one knows have no foundation.and you call me disingenuous.

The fish in our aquarium are looking rather ill, and most of them are turning kind of green around the gill.
I might have fed them too much food, forgot to clean their tank, or maybe they're allergic to the toys and junk I sank.
Perhaps I broke the thermostat. I could have cut their air. What's certain is they're sickly from my downright lack of care.
But even though they're looking ill I still have cause to gloat; they're obviously talented-- they're learning how to float!

...I sent a message to the fish: I told them 'This is what I wish.'
The little fishes of the sea They sent an answer back to me.
The little fishes' answer was 'We cannot do it, Sir, because - '
I sent to them again to say 'It will be better to obey.'
The fishes answered with a grin 'Why, what a temper you are in!'
I told them once, I told them twice; They would not listen to advice. I took a kettle large and new, Fit for the deed I had to do,
My heart went hop, my heart went thump; I filled the kettle at the pump.
Then some one came to me and said, 'The little fishes are in bed.'
I said to him, I said it plain, 'Then you must wake them up again.'
I said it very loud and clear; I went and shouted in his ear.
But he was very stiff and proud; He said 'You needn't shout so loud!'
And he was very proud and stiff; He said 'I'd go and wake them, if -'
I took a corkscrew from the shelf: I went to wake them up myself.
And when I found the door was locked, I pulled and pushed and kicked and knocked.
And when I found the door was shut I tried to turn the handle, but -
