Clee.
I judge people by the way they respond to me, and if that is rude and insulting then I tend to find better things to do. If two or more adults can not have a sensible discussion without resorting to insults I find that rather sad.
And if they do resort to insults I am inclined to think they have lost the argument.
As for the dog, he is a spit of one I was privileged to have a few years ago. Very much like his owner. Loyal, good looking and faithful to the end!
(I have been offered a pup, but don't have the courage to go and look at them!)

To continue with the original discussion. Governments are becoming too tolerant of the various mores of the ethnic communities regardless of whether those are actually illegal. It seems that they don't want to be accused of picking on any particular group and will bend over backwards to ensure that does nor occur.
For example
I recall some years back that when crash helmets were made mandatory for motorcyclists some dust was raised by the Sikh community as they wanted to continue to wear turbans n motorcycles. I can't remember the whole row, but I think I would be right in assuming it was indeed 'one law for all' Effectively, you want to wear a turban, fine, but not if you want to ride a motorbike.
I am going to watch with interest how things unfold in the next few months. The Government have declared Khat illegal. Quite a high proportion of the Somali community chew it. Very few others do. I understand the Police have stated that possession will merit a warning, repeat offences of possession more than a warning and supply will result in prosecution.
I think this one will quietly die the death and be treated much the same as riding a bike without lights. Everyone does it, and no one gets prosecuted for it.

It can't be that dangerous if you can chew it for hundreds of years. And must be in some way connected to people living for centuries!

And if they do resort to insults I am inclined to think they have lost the argument. Same with violent people. I think that some who end up throwing punches do so out of the frustration of not being able to express themselves adequately. If you have a good point and can make it well then there should be no need for shouting, name calling or foot stamping. Very sad when that happens.

That little face is saying 'You will never guess what I have just partially eaten'
I actually had a list on the kitchen wall when my last Setter was a pup. That list included three telephones!

Hear! Hear! How can we ever move forward if people refuse to engage. No wonder the world is in such a mess.

Well WE are interested in YOUR views, too, spesh. So why not express some? This isn't a Socratic dialogue, you know, and YOU are no Socrates.

And those who have known me on various message boards over the years know I rarely give personal information. What is the point of telling someone you don't know and will never meet that I am 103, live with a 26 year old nubile lady and have just come out of prison for the seventh time.
