When I used the word narrow, a sensitive reader with some knowledge of the world might have reflected that education in Northern Ireland has mostly been delivered within the confines of two rather narrowly defined versions of Christianity, which outside the schools were for years viciously at each others' throats. Induction - the act of generalising from the particular is the province of the fool

Well cleefy, what you choose to call generalising in the present instance, I call identifying the features common to nearly all religions - among which one of the most persistent is the conviction that all the other religions are wrong.

But please, both of you, tell me which one you think is right. So’s I can make a rational choice. Between Brie and Camembert - shit, I forgot Pont L'Eveque. (It’s OK, I’ve just made up my mind. I can't be shifted.)

I'm not proselytising, aqua.
All I'm telling you is that religion is not like cheese - if you choose one religion, you pretty much rule out all the others.
Cleefy will be happy to tell you which one to pick.

Tell that to your lesbian friends who are aspiring to run the Church of England. Or doesn't that count as "religion" any more? I guess it won't when it's just an offshoot of The LGBT Anglican Coalition.

I guess it won't when it's just an offshoot of The LGBT Anglican Coalition. If and when a cure is found it should be available to everyone. Even lesbians! Until then we should try and show compassion towards people who are less fortunate. That's the Cultural Christian way you know.

Tell that to your lesbian friends who are aspiring to run the Church of England... The first female bishop is expected to take her seat next year. The Very Rev Dr Jane Hedges, 58, dean of Norwich, is the bookies' favourite to become the first woman bishop.
Ladbrokes has offered 3/1 for the former canon steward of Westminster Abbey and archdeacon of Westminster. She leads the Ven Rachel Treweek, archdeacon of Hackney (6/1), and the Very Rev Dr June Osborne, dean of Salisbury Cathedral (8/1).
Other leading candidates include the Very Rev Vivienne Faull, dean of York Minster. You may wish to check the sexuality of these bookies' favourites, marchesa - I know some of them are married to men, but I realise that's probably just a front. (Dr Hedges has ruled herself out, though apparently not on grounds of not being lesbian enough.)

I can't believe you are serious. The only thing in this world that has killed more people than religion is influenza, and we are looking for a cure for that. I am very serious And you are quite wrong 'Secularism' in the form of atheist Communism killed more people in the 20C than had been killed during all of previous history The difference being that religions are not supposed to kill people. It's all 'love thy neighbour' and 'do unto others...' The eleventh commandment ought to have been: thou shalt not be a raving hypocrite.
