Isn't "forced" marriage illegal? Forced marriage is illegal - but the article raises concerns about arranged marriages where one of the participants is deemed to have "diminished capacity", in such cases can a person give "informed consent"? Are they being taken advantage of? Yes. Looks like they need the protection of the law. Like any vulnerable person.

Very few muslim women seek the protection of legally binding UK civil marriage. All muslim women are by definition "vulnerable". It is the very nature of Islam But you know what they say? "you take a whore to culture but you can't make her think!" OR "you can take the girl out of Islam but you can't take Islam out of the girl". Better to let them stay in their own culture, they won't notice the discrimination against women there because it is the norm. Is it fair to raise their expectations and make them unmarriageable here? Better by far that they choose to become ex-muslims. Then they can be normal, irreligious sluts like the rest of us - including those amongst us who were confirmed Anglicans (not me, I hasten to add!) and even marry a kaffir if they want. And while I am on the subject of ex-muslims, here are the details of their latest conference I received by email this morning Less than 100 days left to register for the conference of a life-time On the Religious-Right, Secularism and Civil Rights 11-12 October 2014 The Tower Hotel, London, UK www.secularconference.comYou can donate, too, to Maryam Namazie at One Law for All if you want to put your money where your mouth is. www.onelawforall.org.uk/donate/
