It seems from reports that a number of Birmingham schools have been subverted by Islamic fundamentalists with all the usual sorry tales of intolerance and hatred of our traditions
Undoubtedly we will soon learn that other schools in predominantly Islamic areas of Britain conform to this pattern
One might wonder how we have arrived at this sorry state
Our politicians are to blame of course and the Left.
Remember Mr Straw? He announced the ending of the 'intent' test for marriage (aimed at sub-continental marriage-for immigration) then rushed over to Pakistan to announce the good news to the villages that comprise a large part of his constituency make-up. He also announced the easing of visa restrictions.
Naturally immigration from those backward areas increased - some reports say it increased by 70%.
Those were the glory years of immigration - 5 million people allowed in during a period of 5 years. Mass immigration coupled to the Left philosophy of 'multiculturalism' (basically meaning that the mores of immigrant communities are above criticism otherwise we would be practising 'cultural elitism)
No wonder that our society fragmented into mutually suspicious 'Cultural' (read 'racial') groups
But what is the point of looking for causes?
We are where we are and these people are now as British as yy Grandfather who died in WW1.
Of course the damaging effect of 'multiculturalism.' must be tackled as it leads to a stratified rather than a unified nation
That has been obvious for so long that it can only be cowardice on the part of our politicians that has allowed it to continue and indeed actively encouraged it
Really brave politicians would surely advocate the end of any further Islamic immigration as increases in the numbers of Moslems can only lead to more pronounced stratification.
A brave politician would stress our Judaeo-Christian heritage that has led to our tolerance and freedoms, and that any move to change this status will be firmly resisted by the State
And what a silly, weak concession to allow state-funded Moslem schools! It simply was not necessary. Our Christian Church schools are a part of our heritage - a large part of education was provided by such schools before education was nationalised, and the Labour government agreed to allow their character to remain in place when they were nationalised. They are an important part of our Judeo-Christian heritage and should be regarded as a special case. Anyway they do not restrict admission to Christians only
To extend the concept of state-funded religious schools to other religions is appeasing nonsense that can only damage our society
There are no easy answers. Allowing Moslem schools was an easy answer that simply ignored the damage that it would inflict upon our society
We need politicians that are willing to take hard decisions within our democratic society
