Of course, Jean, but we can speculate. 'Mercury' has supposedly posted three times, but only one post turns up on inspection. Did the other two give away too much information about the poster?
It really is hard to credit that Pippa wouldn't join the 'Science Board', and continue this crusade of overt intervention...

Why do you characterise it as a 'witch hunt', Pippa? No ducking stools are involved, no commission changes hands. No-one's twisting your arm, but you've not been slow to accuse others of posting under covert aliases, so why is wrong to speculate in this instance? By the way, when quoting your posts, I often notice a big gap between the last line and the end quote html. Is that just some strange glitch, or are you leaving a gap deliberately? Again, just curious...

You really aren't aware of suspecting any of the people you view with such disdain of posting under other identities? Maybe I'm thinking of somebody else then... The one above, and the one above that. You'll see that my post in between them has no gap between the last piece of text and the 'Report post' line. I would assume that you add the extra lines deliberately, as I remove them when quoting you, but I don't know why you would do so. If you preview before posting, you might see what I mean. Edited 'distain' to 'disdain'. My spelling is really starting to suck...

Maybe I'm thinking of somebody else then... accusation implies wrongdoing. if you mean my post where i remarked that jean was posting as simplex on the science forum, well that was just something i happened to notice and made a comment. there was no "accusation", as obviously, anyone is entitled to register under whichever name they choose wherever like. good grief, is there some sort of policing on this? how odd. oh that, the fact i leave a space at the end of my text? just personal choice re layout - that's all. does it make it awkward to quote then? i hadn't thought of that.

Quite right, pippa. But I think JoeK may have been referring to this: simplex is there to stir the shit...

We must never assert more than we know. That's religion - for a start - and philosophy, lierature and all manner of other fields of (un)knowledge done for, then. No - we must express ourselves how we will; but if evidence is repeatedly produced that the assertion is false or invald (listening, pippa?), we must surely consider it...

Hi pippa.
As I see it, this board needs a few more pop-ups, even as uninspiring as me.
And I was only looking for the Cognac, which is hidden behind my screen.

Now who's wasting whose time? People are also entitled to post on public message boards whenever they see fit, as long as they abide by the house rules, and only you feel the need to 'police' this activity. Are you going to continue practising these double standards, or leave things to the mods? I take it that all this evasiveness means that you did post as Mercury? Don't really see why it needs to be a secret, you hardly seem averse to confrontation. Quite the reverse... Not difficult, I just wondered what the rationale was. On another board, I like to keep my signature ('REMAIN INDOORS') a line below the line that separates it from the main post, so I have to insert a full stop... vbulletin.thesite.org/showthread.php?p=2368126#post2368126

But as a seasoned messageboarder, JoeK, you'll know that one reason for adopting an alias and not admitting to it is that you want to give the impression that your views have rather wider currency than in fact they do.

Your #53 is a shambles, pippa.
The only point you needed to consider is that stir the shit is an example of the language of accusation.
